But at least he had a solid foundation in Persian and was a quick study to overcome much of it. ![]() Not just in pronunciation and grammar, but also in some vocabulary, intonation and culture. So in our work together, we had to 'undo' many things he learned from Rosetta Stone. ![]() To be clear, if you speak like a book, you can have one of two career paths: 1) be a news caster or 2) be a mulla. It's all cute for about 5 minutes that he's trying and then it gets really irritating quickly - no Persian speaker wants to have a conversation with you using book-speak. Or, more precisely, he spoke like a book with really poor pronunciation. ![]() He could read and somewhat write.īut, alas, he could not speak or understand very well. I was so impressed with the effort he put in. During that time, he didn't speak with a single Persian speaker (he lived in remote part of Alaska and did this as part of his home-schooled high school curriculum). He did every single lesson of all levels for two years prior to me starting to teach him. I once had a student of Persian who first learned from Rosetta Stone.
